What is SDSL

SDSL stands for Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line. This technology provides similar speeds for both uploading and downloading. Because of the bandwidth requirements for SDSL, telephony is not supported and the end user will therefore require an engineering visit to install a SDSL socket. SDSL is offered by providers at speeds of 512Kbs, 1Mbs and 2Mbs depending on the location of the end user premises in relation to the telephone exchange.

Benefits of SDSL are:

  • send and receive data at the same speed
  • video streaming and videoconferencing
  • link sites at high speed
  • reduce costs
  • host mail servers and websites
